Music Video

Jonny is heading down to Hollywood tomorrow to shoot Love Strikes with Jeremy. I will be editing upon his return, and shortly thereafter, Three Brothers Long will have completed their first joint music video venture...

Troubadour

Jeremy has been up for the holidays, and there have been evenings where his melodies drift in from the adjacent room, and it feels like home.

How It Ends

Spoke to Jeremy this evening on the cellular telephone. Bittersweet.

The band is no more. Not Colorblind Soldiers. Not Critical Theory. Not anything, with the current incarnation of Jeremy-Josh-Caleb.

The twins are leaving Musician's Institute to pursue acting careers.

Jeremy will continue writing, recording, and working with a variety of musicians in the Hollywood area.

This post also marks a change for the focus of this blog. Ostensibly, it has been about the band, but my connection with the band is really through Jeremy, so that is what I will be focusing on. Really, nobody actually reads this right now, which is okay. Someday they will, when some enterprising Frye-boots wearing intern from Rolling Stone is scrounging for background on Jeremy M. Long, they will likely stumble upon this.

So, for the time being, I will continue to occasionally post updates on the life of my little brother, Jeremy M. Long, and the career he is carving out for himself, and Kate Beckinsale.

Farewell.

Kate

So, the band just hung out with Kate Beckinsale. Apparently, she was very nice. They are smitten, it sounds like, but nothing serious has developed yet.

No word on whether she will be returning to the Underworld franchise.

Class

I spoke with Jeremy earlier this afternoon. My hope was to interview him about his classes at Musician's Institute, but unfortunately, he was in class. It leads me to question why he would answer his cellular telephone in class.

(he may have been between classes)

We spoke briefly about Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto (is undecided) and Mates of State's Mountaintops (has not heard).

Basically, he was of little help, and I am disgruntled. Mostly, I am disgruntled because he is not coming home for Thanksgiving, and I miss him terribly.

Name Change

Over the last couple weeks, the band has made the decision to change their name.

Colorblind Soldiers is no more.

Minus the legendary Trino "Trigger" Ochoa on drums, the remaining three are holed up in Hollywood carving out a SoCal niche as...

Critical Theory.

Gonna take some getting used to.

Committment

Once again, melodies floating from downstairs. I trot out of my cavelike studio and peer into the spotlit darkness of Jeremy's room. In bed, covers pulled high, strumming his six-stringer, quietly singing the lyrics to a new song he is doing for...

...for Digital Broadcasting class. Which Jonny and I happen to teach. So, he spent a large portion of last evening, and well into the night, "doing homework for Digital Broadcasting," which involved him writing music for Project 1.

I do not know whether he finished homework for other classes. But what dedication for Digital Broadcasting. Homework in bed.

These are the lyrics.

Masquerade

Masquerade, ball room dance
Moon shines like a natural lamp.

Step, step, step (breath). Dance in between.
Step, step, step (breath). Dance in between.

 Shivering, reaching for air
Gravity is grabbing me, pulling me under.

Masquerade, Masquerade.

Step, step, step (breath). Dance in between.
Step, step, step (breath). Dance in between.

Sleep beneath the surface, rest.
Ignore the flawed, let the soul persist.
Resist the light, dark is calm
Wake with weary eyes, regret weary eyes.

Step, step, step (breath). Dance in between.
Step, step, step (breath). Dance in between.

Mundanities on a Wodensday

He has a black eye, but you will have to talk or Twitter with Jeremy himself to hear the tale.

Do not forget the upcoming concert dates.

And if you have not seen the trailer for Nowhere Boy...go watch it now. Chills and goosebumps and all those tingles you feel in expectation of something great.

Repost

...from Wormmusings.

An edgy band of rocker poppers hailing from the great Northwest. I've learned they are playing two consecutive shows next week end, the 17th and 18th of September. They also might have a new song about WWII devastation debuting on one of these dates. To find out, attend.

Blog

How incredibly disappointed I was to check Jeremy's blog tonight and discover...nothing.

That is the news today. Nothing, although he did skip his 7th period class today to hitch a ride to Tillamook.

Bed

Some people watch television before they fall asleep.

Others nod off to a book.

Jeremy is downstairs playing guitar in bed.

Malcolm Gladwell writes about the thousands of hours of practice the Beatles put in en route to revolutionizing rock 'n roll, and the impact those infinite hours of rehearsals and shows had on their ability to (seemingly) effortlessly create and perform an unparalleled string of smash albums and hits. Just the act of taking every opportunity to play and practice and hone their musical skills in every way possible.

Like I said, he's playing guitar in bed.

Again.
